Dhaka North City Corporation on Monday announced that the disposal of all sacrificial animal waste was successfully completed within the previously declared six-hour timeframe.
The accomplishment was confirmed in a press release issued by Moqbul Hossain, public relations officer of DNCC.
DNCC Mayor Md Atiqul Islam said it was possible to dispose of all sacrificial animal waste in Dhaka north even before the scheduled deadline.
He pledged to continue working together to maintain cleanliness in the city in the future.
The waste management program was launched by the mayor in Ward 7 of DNCC at Mirpur at 1:30pm. The operation to dispose of waste started at 2pm and was completed by 8pm.
A total of 10,374 tons of waste were disposed of using over 2,101 trips across 10 DNCC zones.
The DNCC Waste Management Department confirmed that all 54 wards achieved 100% waste disposal. In Ward 16, all collected waste was transported to the Solid Waste Transfer Station (STS) for landfill processing.
Around 10,000 workers were mobilized to manage the waste disposal within the stipulated timeframe.
After the evening review, the DNCC mayor directed the Waste Management Department to ensure rapid removal of sacrificial animal waste the next day as well.
