At least 154 people were injured while sacrificing animals on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha on Monday.
From 9am to 6pm, patients from all over the capital rushed to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), according to Inspector Bachchu Mia, head of the hospital's police outpost.
While some individuals were able to leave after receiving primary treatment, others required admission for more severe injuries.
During Eid-ul-Azha, a shortage of professional butchers often leads individuals from various backgrounds to take on the role, resulting in numerous injuries.
Among the injured was Md Meraz, 27, from Rupganj in Narayanganj, who received 21 stitches on his head after being kicked by a cow. Meraz was brought to DMCH around 12:30 PM with critical head injuries.
Another patient, Anwar Hossain, 42, rickshaw-puller from Chankharpool, sustained a severe cut on his right hand while cutting beef.
Shahid Biswas, 55, from Matual Dakkhinpara, arrived at the hospital around 9:30 AM with a broken left hand, also the result of being kicked by a cow.
