Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said that a survey is underway for the extension of metro rail from Uttara to Tongi in the capital.
He said this after inaugurating the Bangabandhu Corner at the metro rail depot in Uttara's Diabari on Saturday.
The minister said that the construction of the extended section from Motijheel to Kamalapur will be completed in June 2025.
A decision will be taken after discussing the matter of extension of time of metro rail on various days including Bishwa Ijtema, and Ekushey Book Fair.
Obaidul Quader said that the maximum convenience of the passengers will be ensured in the metro rail. By 2030, six lines of metro rail will be launched.
