Three people, including a child and a woman, were killed and another injured when a car ran over them while they were waiting for a bus in the Khilkhet area of Dhaka late on Wednesday.
Khilkhet police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Mosharraf said the car was coming from the Airport road at a great speed, rammed into the road divider under a footbridge and ran over the pedestrians.
Eight-year-old Yasin died on the spot, while his father, Sumon Mia, Amrina Haque and Ujjal Pandey were severely injured. They were rescued and taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment where Amrina and Ujjal were declared dead.
Sumon Mia is under treatment in a critical state.
Police seized the car but the driver managed to flee the scene.
