Three BNP associate bodies – Jubo Dal, Chhatra Dal and Swechchasebak Dal – will hold a youth rally at Suhrawardy Uddyan in Dhaka on Saturday to drum up youth support for their demand for polls under a caretaker government.
“Through discussion with the police, we have decided to hold our youth rally at Suhrawardy Uddyan,” Jubo Dal President Sultan Salahuddin Tuku told reporters after a meeting with the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) commissioner on Thursday night.
He said the DMP asked them to submit an application for using the venue for their youth rally.
“We have already submitted the application.”
Tuku said they will hold a press briefing in front of the BNP's Naya Paltan central office on Friday on their plans for the rally.
He said they have already held five youth rallies in five divisions with the cooperation of the administration.
“We the three organizations will jointly hold a similar rally in Dhaka on July 22 (Saturday). We came here (DMP commissioner's office) to inform them about our rally… they positively told us to hold the program at Suhrawardy Udyan.”
He said they will now take preparation to hold the last youth rally in the capital to involve the youth with their movement to realize their demand.
Tuku said the DMP commissioner assured them of all-out cooperation to make their program a success.
Earlier, Tuku along with Dhaka South BNP Convener Abdus Salam, Dhaka North BNP Convener Amanullah Aman and Chhatra Dal President Kazi Rawnaqul Islam Shrabon met DMP Commissioner Khandker Golam Faruq at his Bailey Road office.
On June 2, the three BNP associate bodies announced that they will hold sixth youth rallies in Chittagong, Bogra, Khulna, Barisal, Sylhet and Dhaka.
