Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has launched a dengue control room to take prompt action against the mosquito-borne disease amid surging number of patients.
The control room will conduct special drives in the houses and yards of the dengue patients, according to the list of dengue patients provided by the Directorate General of Health Service (DGHS).
It will also monitor the mobile court activities to control the outbreak of dengue disease and supervise other regular activities for mosquito control.
The control room will remain open daily from 9am to 5pm except holidays.
Dhaka TribuneOn Thursday morning, DSCC Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh inaugurated the activities of the control room.
At this time, he requested people to call 01709900888 to give information about Aedes mosquito breeding ground or larvae.
After the inauguration, the mayor also ordered the related ward councillors, regional executive officers to destroy the breeding grounds of Aedes mosquitoes and carry out larviciding and adulticiding activities specially from the roof of dengue patient's house and adjacent areas along with collecting the list of dengue patients from DGHS.
Connected directly from the control room, he monitored the activities instructed on Facebook live.
The mayor said: “to prevent the spread of Aedes mosquitoes, we have launched a central control room from today. Through this control room, we will directly supervise our mosquito control activities from morning to evening.”
DSCC chief executive officer and other officials were present at that time.
