The hanging body of a university student was recovered from Banasree area in the capital on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Zubair Hossain Hriday, 23, son of Abdul Halim, hailing from Mirzaganj upazila in Patuakhali district and a third year student of computer science department at North South University, Bashundhara.
Zubair's uncle Sohag told the media that Zubair was supposed to go to Kaliakoir in Gazipur.
“I called him multiple times but he did not pick up the phone. Later in the afternoon I went to his rented house in Banasree. I found his door closed from inside. I did not get any response even after calling several times. I opened the door with the help of the caretaker of the house and found him hanging on a towel with a fan.”
He was first taken to Suhrawardy Hospital. From there he was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) and the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
Confirming the matter, DMCH Police Outpost Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Md Masud Mia said that the matter has been informed to the concerned police station.
The body has been kept in the hospital morgue, he said.
