Repairing of Titas Road gas leak begins

The authorities started the repair work following an article published on Dhaka Tribune

Thousands of residents living near the capital's Titas Road have been left in constant fear of fatal accidents due to a gas line leak, which has filled the East Rampura, Bank Colony, and Banasree residential areas with an odor of gas.

A report on the matter was published in the online Bengali version of Dhaka Tribune on April 1 and in the English version on April 2.

After that, Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company has started the work of repairing the leakage in that transmission line from Tuesday morning.

Since morning, the road was closed for repairing.

As the work has started, relief has appeared among the local residents after a long year of living in fear.

In this regard, Titasbag Kollan Somity General Secretary Abdul Quader told Dhaka Tribune: “We have been worrying about this issue for a year. The fear of accidents was working all the time. After many days we got some relief today. The authorities should have taken faster action in case of such dangerous emergency services.”

Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited's System Operation Department Deputy General Manager Engineer Md Siddiqur Rahman said: “Repair work has started since Tuesday morning. There is also a water line. There is a matter of road construction. So, we have to work in coordination with other organizations.”
