Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has issued an order restricting traffic movement on the west side of the road from Bangshal to Gulistan, following the deadly explosion in Siddikbazar on Tuesday.
Since the explosion took place, a large crowd had formed in front of the damaged building. Due to the overcrowding, the movement of vehicles is also being disrupted, along with the rescue work.
“This road will remain closed to traffic until further notice,” DSCC GM (Transport) Haider Ali said in a press briefing on Wednesday evening.
GM Haider Ali said: “The risk around this building might get worse if the vehicles move on the road. Due to this, traffic on this route from Bangshal to Gulistan will be prohibited untill further notice.”
So far, 19 people were killed in the blast. Many were injured. At least 20 of the injured persons are now undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
