Dhamrai gas cylinder blast: Last surviving family member dies

The fire broke out at a rented house on January 7

The death toll from the gas cylinder explosion that caused a fire at a house in Dhaka's Dhamrai rose to five as the only survivor died at a Dhaka hospital on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Hosna Begum, 35. 

Hosna, who sustained 25% burn injuries, died at the intensive care unit (ICU) of Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery at aound 9am, said Inspector Bacchu Miah, in-charge of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) police outpost. 

Earlier, Manjurul Islam, 32, his wife Josna Begum, 25, their one-and-half-year-old daughter Mariam and niece Sadiya Akter, 18, succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.

Hosna Begum was Josna Begum's sister.

On January 7, a fire broke out following a gas cylinder blast on the second floor of Manjurul's rented house at Kumral village in Dhamrai at around 5.30am when Josna Begum tried to light a gas stove.
