Three members of the same family, including a woman and a teenage girl, suffered severe burn injuries in a gas cylinder explosion in Tongi, Gazipur, on Wednesday morning.

The victims were admitted to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka, where their conditions were described as critical.

The incident occurred around 6am in an area near Cherag Ali Market under Tongi West police station.

One of the victims, Lalchan, 60, suffered burns to 95% of his body and is receiving treatment in the hospital's emergency department.

Tanisha, 16, a student, sustained burns to 86% of her body and has been admitted to the Female High Dependency Unit (FHDU). Nasima, 50, suffered burns to 85% of her body and is also receiving treatment in the emergency department.
