Update : 07 Jan 2023, 01:43 PM

Ignoring the biting cold, commuters waited in long queues outside Agargaon and Uttara metro stations on Saturday.

As it is a public holiday, many people came with their families to experience the metro ride.

Therefore, the pressure of passengers was much higher compared to the last few days.

Moreover, the ticket machines in Agargaon and Uttara metro stations continued to falter. They rendered useless continuously which caused people to stand in line for a long time.

Bangla TribuneAll walks of people, starting from children to elderly, were seen traveling by metro rail with much enthusiasm.

Those who have MRT passes did not have to wait in queue. Others had to wait in lines to enter metro stations.

There was relatively more passenger pressure at Uttara station than Agargaon. Those who traveled from Agargaon to Uttara were queuing up to enter the platform to take the metro rail to Agargaon again. Bangla Tribune

Sajjadur Rahan, a commuter from Agargaon area, said he came with his family members to ride the metro rail. “Today is a holiday, so I wanted to experience metro rail ride with my family members,” he said.

Roushan Ara brought her mother to ride the metro rail. While entering the Uttara metro station she told Bangla Tribune she has waited for several days for the gathering to ease up.

“I thought there would be less passenger pressure today, but it was relatively high. I had to wait for a long time to enter. It was a good experience riding the metro rail,” she said.

Bangla TribuneHowever, complaining about the faltering machine, Sabbir Rahman, another passenger, said two of the three ticket machines were not working.

“I came from Uttara to Agargaon after standing in line for a long time. The ticket machines are not working properly. The authorities need to pay more attention to solve these problems,” he said.
