Jannatul Ferdowsi, vice-president of Eden College unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League, on Wednesday filed a lawsuit against eight, including the president and general secretary of the party, for allegedly trying to murder her.
She filed the case with Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court.
The accused are President Tamanna Jasmine Riva, General Secretary Razia Sultana and Nujhat Faria Roksana, Mim Islam, Nur Jahan, Ritu Akhter, Anika Tabassum Sworna and Kamrunnahar Jyoti.
Metropolitan Magistrate Syed Mostafa Reza Nur requested a report from the officer-in-charge (OC) of Lalbagh Police Station by October 23 after recording the plaintiff's statement.
Plaintiff claimed that on Saturday, accused Anika Tabassum and others took Tk20,000 and a laptop from her room and vandalized on the orders of accused Riva and Razia.
On Sunday, with an intent to murder her, the suspect Riva struck her with a hockey stick in front of the college's Ayesha Hall. Later, she and the suspect Mim tried to suffocate her. The two accused then left Jannatul believing she died.
Later, she was rescued and taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Earlier on September 22, Jannatul gave a media interview about the president and secretary of the Eden College unit of Chhatra League engaging in many unlawful actions.
Following the incident, Jannatul and Razia got into a fight on September 24. They were under threat of being kicked out of her dorm by the competing group.
At least 12 persons are said to have been injured in two fights that happened later on Sunday at Eden College.
Due to the fighting between the organization's two factions, Chhatra League also suspended the operations of its Eden College committee on Sunday.
