Bangladesh Chhatra League on Sunday suspended the activities of its Eden College committee following the clashes between two factions of the organization.

At the same time, 16 members were permanently expelled from the organization for violating its regulations, said a notice signed by Chhatra League President Al Nahian Khan Joy and General Secretary Lekhak Bhattacharjee.

The expelled students are - Eden College committee Chhatra League vice president Sonali Akhtar, Sushmita Baroi, Jebunnahar Shila, Kalpana Begum, Jannatul Ferdous, Afroza Rashmi, Marzana Urmi, Sanjida Parveen Chowdhury, SM Milli, Sadia Jahan Sathi, Fatema Khanam Binti, Samia Akhter Baisakhi, Rafia Neela, Noshin Sharmili, Jannatul Lima, Shuchona Akhter.

Meanwhile, Chhatra League has also formed a probe body to investigate the incident that left several injured in the campus.

In a separate notice issued on the same day, the organization announced the two-member committee, and asked them to submit a report within 24 hours.

On Sunday, two clashes reportedly took place at Eden College that injured at least 12 people.

The clashes broke out between followers of the college's Chhatra League committee president Tamanna Jasmine Riva and a group of rival BCL leaders.

The two groups locked into clashes at the college when the Chhatra League president and general secretary organized a press conference regarding allegations that their rival group aired earlier in the day.

Riva and Razia Sultana, the president and general secretary, have been allegedly involved in some illegal activities including seat trading, extortion, student torture and taking control of hostels and the canteen. They even started extortion from foot-way shops.

Despite many allegations against Riva and Razia that arose since they were declared president and general secretary, the college administration and Bangladesh Chhatra League did not take any action against them yet.
