An inmate of a drug case died while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital Wednesday afternoon.
The deceased is Kazi Nasim Ahmed, 49, of Barishad village of Sreepur upazila in Magura district.
An hour before his death, the prison guards admitted him to the hospital in an critical condition from Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj.
Inspector Bacchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH police outpost, confirmed the matter, adding: “The body has been kept at the hospital morgue for post-mortem examination.”
Kazi Nahid Ahmed, the brother of the deceased, said that in November last year, Nasim was arrested and imprisoned in a drug case at Motijheel police station. Later, he was sentenced in the case.
