A woman who lost both of her legs under the wheels of a train in the Railgate area of Dhaka’s Khilgaon has died while undergoing treatment.
The deceased was identified as Alo Riberu, 40. She was a mother to a daughter.
Earlier on Sunday, she was admitted to the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR).
When her condition deteriorated, she was taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in the night and was pronounced dead by the on-duty doctor.
Anjan Riberu, the woman’s younger brother, said she was mentally unstable.
“On Sunday morning, she left her house in the Tejgaon Monipuripara area. Later in the afternoon, police told me she was injured after being hit by a train in Khilgaon,” he added.
Bachchu Mia, police inspector at the DMCH police outpost, said the body has been kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy.
