The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) said that 10 people were arrested during raids in Mohammadpur, Hazaribagh and Tejgaon areas of the capital on Wednesday.
The names of those arrested have not been disclosed.
Weapons were seized from them, said RAB-2 Senior Assistant Director (Media) Shihab Karim.
He said that the arrested were members of an organized band of robbers. In different areas of the capital, the muggers threaten passers-by with hooves, knives and various local weapons and snatch away their gold ornaments, money and mobile phones.
On Tuesday, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Khandker Golam Faruq said the law enforcement agency's ongoing special drive will be continuing until the capital becomes free of muggers.
During the Eid-ul-Azha holiday, more than a hundred incidents of theft, robbery, and mugging were reported in the capital, with even a police officer losing his life at the hands of the robbers.
