Mobile courts of the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) imposed fines amounting to Tk1,05,500 in 12 cases during anti-dengue drives conducted on Tuesday to control the spread of Aedes mosquitoes.
Aedes mosquito larvae were found in various establishments during the raids in the areas under the DSCC.
DSCC Zone 2 Executive Magistrate MR Salim Shahnewaz visited 45 houses and establishments in South Mugda, North Mugda, Kadmatoli and Sabujbagh areas.
At this time, the mobile court imposed a fine of Tk5,000 in one case as larvae were found in an establishment.
The court of Executive Magistrate Mohammad Faisal Uddin of Zone 3 conducted raids in 23 houses and establishments in the Lalbagh area and imposed a fine of Tk2,000 in one case for finding mosquito larvae in an establishment.
Executive Magistrate Aminul Islam's court of zone 4 went to 20 houses and establishments in Armanitola and fined Tk10,000 in two cases as mosquito larvae were found in two establishments.
Executive Magistrate Md Safi Ullah of Zone 5 visited 20 houses and establishments in Wari's Lermini Street and imposed a fine of Tk80,000 in four cases as mosquito larvae were found in four establishments.
Executive Magistrate SM Manjurul Haque of Zone 9 conducted raids in 35 houses and establishments in the Kazlarpar area and collected Tk8,500 in fines in five cases as mosquito larvae were found in five establishments.
A total of 143 houses and establishments were raided during Tuesday's drives.
The DSCC started a three-day special operation to destroy the breeding grounds of Aedes mosquitoes in 25 wards on Tuesday morning.
