A police constable was fatally stabbed by a mugger at the Farmgate intersection in Dhaka on Saturday morning.
The constable, Moniruzzaman Taluker, was assigned to the Tejgaon traffic division, confirmed Tejgaon police station officer-in-charge Apurba Hasan.
“Moniruzzaman was returning to work from his village home in Sherpur. After spending his Eid holidays there, while he was walking from Tejgaon railway station to his office, he was attacked by the mugger,” said the OC.
His body has been kept at the Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital morgue, he said.
Efforts are underway to identify the perpetrator and bring him to justice, the OC added.
