A fire broke out at a garment factory in Dhaka’s Shyamoli area in the early hours of Tuesday.
The fire started at around 5.30am in the sewing section on the seventh floor of the unit belonging to Goldstar Garments Ltd.
Five fire tenders were pressed into service and it took them nearly an hour to douse the flames, said Rozina Islam, duty officer of the Fire Service.
No casualties were reported, she said.
The fire originated from a short-circuit on the floor and it gutted equipment and materials worth Tk20 lakh, said the fire service official, citing a preliminary probe.
