The new leadership of Bangladesh Film Artistes’ Association took oath on Sunday.
The swearing-in ceremony was held around 7:15pm in the open courtyard of the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) where the former president of the association, Misha Sawdagar, administered the oath of office to newly elected president Ilias Kanchan.
Later, Ilias Kanchan administered oath to the members of the new committee including general secretary Nipun.
Apart from Nipun, Symon Sadik, who won the post of joint general secretary, Shahnoor, the organizing secretary, Mamnun Emon, the culture and sports secretary, Amit Hasan, Ferdous, Keya and Jasmine, who won the executive council post, also took oath.
Actor Alamgir, directors Sohanur Rahman Sohan and Delwar Jahan Jhantu were among those present on the occasion.
The election for the term of 2022-24 of the Film Artists’ Association was held on January 26. Ilias Kanchan, who contested for the president post, won over Misha. Zayed Khan was elected general secretary in the polls. However, another general secretary candidate Nipun later brought allegations of irregularities against Zayed Khan.
On Saturday, the appellate board rejected the candidature of Zayed Khan and declared Nipun the uncontested winner.
