Farmer hacked to death in Dhamrai

“A murder case will be filed in connection with the incident”- say police

Police recovered the body of a farmer on Sunday, who was hacked to death sometime after Saturday night in Dhamrai of Dhaka district.

The deceased has been identified as Shukur Ali, 57, a resident of Kachoir village in Baishakanda union.

Locals found his body by a beel near his home on Sunday morning after he had been missing since going out to catch fish on Saturday, according to police and locals.

Upon receiving information police recovered the body. Dhamrai police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Dipak Chandra Saha said: "After primarily examining the body we saw injury marks caused by sharp weapons. Miscreants may have hacked him sometime during the night and dumped the body.”

"The victim's body was sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy. A murder case will be filed in connection with the incident," OC Dipak Chandra added.
