Bangladesh National Zoo in Mirpur, Dhaka is set to reopen for visitors from November 1, following all the health safety rules for Covid-19.
The Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock made the announcement through a press release on Thursday.
Md Abdul Latif, curator of the national zoo, told Dhaka Tribune that up to 2,000 visitors would be allowed to visit the zoo every day.
The zoo will be open for the visitors from 9am till 3pm only.
Abdul Latif said all the health safety rules for Covid-19 must be maintained during the visit to prevent infection.
“All the visitors have to collect the entry tickets from the counters by maintaining social distance, and have to wear face masks. We will set up some wash basins to wash hands, and will spray disinfectant at the entrance. And the visitors have to walk one way to avoid interaction,” he added.
People who are above 60 years of age will not be allowed to visit the zoo, as a Covid-19 safety precaution.
The national zoo was shut down on March 20, two days after the first Covid-19 death was reported in Bangladesh.
