Police on Friday arrested a person for committing fraud over motorcycle trade on social networking site Facebook.
The arrestee Md Fahad, 30, was detained from his Mirpur Maddha Paikpara house at around 1:30am on Friday, a Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) release said.
“Fahad was running a page named The Garage on Facebook for some time and was luring motorbike enthusiasts by posting photographs of world renowned modifying bikes on his page. When interested customers contact him, he used to take money in advance, only to cheat them,” the release quoting Mirpur Model police station Officer In-Charge (OC) Md Mostafizur Rahman, said.
Fahad took Tk1,35,000 from victim Imtiyaj in early August to give him a modified bike, but wasn’t giving him his bike. Imtiyaj finally lodged a case against Fahad and police arrested him in connection with the case.
Police said Fahad has so far realized huge a sum from motorbike enthusiasts through cheating.
