An as yet undetermined number of muggers stabbed a teenager to death and snatched away his motorcycle in Dhaka.
The incident occurred in the capital’s Wari area on Sunday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Munna, 17.
Munna’s cousin, Shakil, 18, who was with him at the time of the attack, was also injured but is out of danger. He was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for treatment.
Confirming the matter to Dhaka Tribune, Shaon, the victim’s elder brother, said: “The two [Munna and Shakil] went out on a motorcycle ride on Sunday.
“At one point some muggers blocked their vehicle in Wari and stabbed Munna with a sharp weapon, snatching his motorcycle.”
“Later, locals and police rescued my brother. He was rushed to DMCH where duty doctors declared him dead.”
Deceased Munna was a truck helper and lived in Wari’s Lal Chand Mohon Lane.
The body of Munna has been sent for autopsy.
