An 80-years-old woman named Rawshanara Begum has died in Dhaka when a van hit her rickshaw.
The incident took place in the Matuail area of Jatrabari on Thursday around 10:30am.
The deceased, Rawshanara hailed from Launchghat village under the jurisdiction of Hajiganj thana in Chandpur district.
Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) outpost in-charge Inspector Bachchu Mia confirmed the matter.
He said they informed the concerned police station and sent the body to the morgue for autopsy.
The deceased Rawshanara's daughter, Rakeya Begum, said that two days ago, her mother came to visit her in Matuail Mughal Nagar area.
“This morning, as my mother had high blood pressure, I was taking her to hospital, along with my two children,” she said.
“But when we reached Matuail Maa and Shishu Hospital, a van hit our rickshaw from the opposite direction,” she added.
Rakeya said her mother fell down from the rickshaw and was injured. She was later taken to a local hospital and then taken to the emergency room of DMCH at 11:30pm where the duty doctor declared her dead, she added.
"My son, daughter, and I also fell down from the rickshaw, but nothing happened to us," she said.
