An employee of Ekattor TV has drowned in Balu River near Baraid area of Badda in the capital.
Yosuf Jamil Tariqul, 28, an assistant in the broadcast department of Ekattor TV, went missing on Thursday after going swimming in the river with his friends.
After searching for 18 hours, Yosuf’s body was found floating in the river at FakirKhali of Badda’s Baraid area on Friday.
Badda police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Khandaker Rajib Ahmed confirmed the matter.
He said Yosuf went swimming with two friends, in-front of their residence, on Thursday around 1pm. While the friends swam across the river, Yosuf went missing.
Immediately, Yosuf’s friends and family searched in the river but failed to locate him. Later they informed the fire service diving team who also could not find the body, the police official added.
Rajib said locals found the floating body of Yosuf in the river near FakirKhali area on Friday morning. The body was handed over to the family without any post-mortem.
Yosuf’s family members said he got married just six months ago. He had rented a house in Badda. His village home is in Tangail district.
