Police recovered the body of a 13-year-old boy, who went missing on Friday, from a jungle in the Kotbari area of Comilla district on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Opritom, a class VII student of Border Guard Public School and the only son of KM Firoz Shahriar and Dr Nahida Begum, an associate professor of the Bangla Department of Comilla University.

Police said Opritom remained missing since he went out of his house in Kotbari area under Sadar Dakshin Thana around 3:30pm on Friday carrying his mother's iPhone to take photographs with his friends.

His father lodged a general diary with Sadar Dakshin Police Station on Friday night.

After reviewing the CCTV footage from areas around his last known location and Comilla University, police recovered the body of Opritom from a forest in Kotbaria area, said Rakibul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Dakshin Model Police Station.

“The boy had severe injury marks on his head. We are investigating the incident,” he said.
