Two people have been killed and another injured in a road accident at the Bangla Motor area in Dhaka.
The accident occurred when a Bihongo Paribahan bus hit a motorcycle at the Bangla Motor intersection at around 11:30am on Thursday, Assistant Commissioner (Ramna zone) SM Shamim of Dhaka Metropolitan Police told Dhaka Tribune.
The deceased were identified as Belayet, 52, from Muladi, Barisal, and Maksudur, 42, from Sarail, Brahmanbaria.
The injured man was identified as Zakir, 40.
They were all riding the motorcycle.
“We seized the bus and the motorcycle, and arrested the bus driver, named Jafar,” Assistant Commissioner SM Shamim said.
Speaking to witnesses during primary investigation, police found out that the motorcycle had come from the Moghbazar side and the bus from Shahbagh. The vehicles collided in front of Navana Johura Complex as the brake of the bus failed, the assistant commissioner said.
Locals said the bus couldn’t stop and hit the road divider after running over the motorcycle.
