3 die by electrocution in Dhaka

A child died by electrocution while flying a kite in Turag area

Two labourers and a child died by electrocution in two separate incidents in the capital.

The two labourers died in an under-construction building at Badda on Wednesday afternoon.

The deceased have been identified as Shahdat Hossain, 22, from Raipur of Lakshmipur district and Yeasin, 21, from Sherpur District. Both of them were residents of Badda area.

Md. Shahidul Islam, sub-inspector (SI) of Badda police station said the duo was working on an electric water pump at DIT project at road number 11 when they got electrocuted. 

After receiving the information, the police rushed to the spot and sent them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where the duty doctors declared them dead, he added.

Bodies have been sent to the morgue for autopsy, the police official said.

Meanwhile, a child, Shanto Islam Sagor, 12, who was flying a kite from the balcony of his home, got electrocuted from the national electric line at Turag area of Dhaka on Wednesday afternoon.

A fire service team rescued him and took him to a local hospital where the duty doctors declared him dead. 

Sagor’s mother also suffered burn injuries trying to rescue her son. She is currently receiving medical treatment at an Uttra hospital.
