Veteran historian Prof Muntasir Mamoon has been shifted back to his cabin from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after his condition improved.
Mugda General Hospital Covid-19 Physicians’ Council spokesperson Dr Mahbubur Rahman confirmed the matter on Tuesday morning.
“His condition has improved. Therefore, he has been shifted back to his cabin from the ICU,” he said.
Earlier on Monday, the professor was shifted to the ICU of the hospital after his health condition deteriorated.
The 69-year-old Dhaka University history professor was admitted to the hospital on Sunday evening with symptoms similar to Covid-19 infection.
In August 2017, Dhaka University conferred the professor honorary “Bangabandhu Chair” for a one-year tenure.
