A bus helper, defendant in a case filed over an accident causing the loss of a leg of a female government official, has been arrested by the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI).
PBI Sub-Inspector Al Amin Sheikh, along with his team, arrested the absconding bus helper Bacchu Mia from Gouripur Upazila in Mymensingh around 8:30pm on Friday, PBI said in a press release.
Earlier, on September 2, the PBI had arrested the bus driver Morshed from Kazipara area of Dhaka.
Morshed drove his Trust Service bus into Krishna Roy Chowdhury, an assistant manager of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC), as she walking on a sidewalk in Dhaka's Bangla Motor area on August 27.
Krishna, 55, had to have her left leg amputated because of the accident.
The victim was rushed to the Holy Family Red Crescent Medical College Hospital from where she was shifted to the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedic Rehabilitation.
