Bangladesh Awami Jubo League has set 55 years as maximum age of eligibility for its members and the leadership.

The decision was taken at a meeting between Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Jubo League central leaders at the prime minister's official residence Ganabhaban in Dhaka on Sunday.

The age of just expelled Jubo League chairman Omar Faruk Chowdhury is 71 years as there was no provision on age limit in the organization's constitution right now.

Although the National Youth Policy defines any citizen aged between 18 and 35 years as a youth, none among the central committee of Jubo League falls under this age group as of now.
