Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) has planned to introduce four water buses for crossing Buriganga River at Sadarghat-Keraniganj point.
The shipping ministry has taken the decision at a development, financial and administrative meeting of BIWTA at the ministry’s conference room on Thursday.
Shipping Secretary Md Abdus Samad and acting BIWTA Chairman Tajul Islam, among others, were present at the meeting with State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury in the chair.
BIWTA has 12 water buses. Of them, four will be used for crossing Buriganga.
The meeting has emphasized on expanding the standard of services in all passenger ships and ferry services. The meeting also directed BIWTA to be more conscious about the use of its assets.
