Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan says action will be taken if any member of the police force is found negligent in the Rifat murder case, reports UNB.

"Those involved in the incident won't be spared, and a bit more time will be needed to arrest the attackers," he said, talking to reporters at the Secretariat on Sunday.

"Killing a young man in broad daylight is not acceptable. It is a heinous crime," he added.

Replying to a question, the home minister said: "Anyone who commits a crime will be punished, no matter which political party he or she belongs to."

Answering another question, he said: "Those involved in drug peddling will be brought to book as Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has announced a zero tolerance policy against drugs."

Rifat Sharif, 22, was hacked to death by criminals in front of his wife in broad daylight in Barguna district town on June 26. The incident was caught on surveillance camera that went viral on social media.

A day later, three suspects were arrested in connection with the gruesome killing.
