6 forcefully enter Bangla Tribune office

A GD has been filed regarding the incident

Six individuals have forcefully entered the office of leading online news portal Bangla Tribune.

The incident occurred in Bangla Tribune's office situated at ‎FR Tower in Dhaka's Panthpath area, around 12:54pm on Saturday

The individuals - one female and five male - continuously identified themselves as men of former Awami League law maker Md Mokbul Hossain, and were looking for the online news portal's editor, ‎Zulfiqer Russell.

They also claimed to be working for City University, owned by the former lawmaker, which did not make it to the top 20 of the Dhaka Tribune-Bangla Tribune Private University Rankings 2019.

A general diary (GD) has been filed in this regard with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station.

Confirming the matter, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Abdur Rashid said: "Bangla Tribune Assistant Human Resource Manager Alamgir Hossain has filed a GD around 8pm regarding the incident. We are looking into the matter. 

"Necessary steps will be taken upon further investigation."
