A woman was killed in a road accident in Jatrabari in the early hours of Saturday.
The victim was identified as Halima Begum, 60. She hailed from Murma village of Munshiganj sadar.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Ajmot Ali with the Jatrabari police station, told the Dhaka Tribune that Halima was crossing the road at Signboard area when a speeding bus knocked her down around 4:15am.
She was rushed to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
According to the police, Halima died of her grievous injuries at around 5am.
Police detained the bus driver Guljar Hossain, 55, and supervisor Abdur Razzak, 26. The bus was also seized by the police.
According to the police, Halima and her son Habibur Rahman had gone to Sylhet to bring her granddaughter and newborn great-granddaughter home.
