A fire broke out at the Salauddin Specialized Hospital in Wari, while another at the Tropical Tower in Paltan in Dhaka, on Wednesday night.

However, the fires were doused by locals immediately after its inception, before the Fire Service units even reached the spot.

Mahfuz Riben, duty officer at the fire service headquarters confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune and said the fires broke out around the same time approximately at 8:30pm.

"The fire at the hospital originated on the 10th floor while the fire at Tropical Tower which also housed the daily Financial Express began on the fourth floor," he added

There were no casualties reported.

Earlier, on February 14, Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital in Dhaka’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar caught fire, leaving more than 1,000 patients under the open sky in dire situation for hours.

At least 18 fire-fighting units brought the flames under control after more than three hours.

The next day, a one-year-old child had died while he—along with thousands of other patients—was evacuated due to the massive fire at the hospital.
