The death toll from the devastating Chawkbazar fire has reached 70, with the death of another injured at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
Rezaul, 21, died around 5:30am on Friday. He was receiving treatment at the ICU of the hospital’s burn unit, the unit’s Resident Physician, Dr Partha Shankar Pal, told the Dhaka Tribune.
He hailed from Manikganj, and was a resident of Keraniganj.
Hospital sources said Rezaul suffered over 51% burns on his body, and his condition had deteriorated over the past couple of days.
On the night of February 20, a massive fire ravaged several multi-storey buildings on Nanda Kumar Lane in Chawkbazar’s Churihatta area of Old Dhaka, killing 67 people and injuring scores of others.
So far, three injured victims- Anwar, 55, Sohag, 20, and Rezaul, 21, have died of their burn injuries while undergoing treatment.
