A victim of the Chawkbazar fire is currently in critical condition at the Intensive Care Unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, doctors have said.
Of the two victims of the incident at DMCH who have no burn injuries, the condition of rickshaw-puller Md Rabiul is critical, said resident doctor Alauddin.
Currently, two non-fire victims – Md Rabiul and Md Kawsar - are at DMCH.
Kawsar, who runs the Al Madina Store in Chawkbazar, said he was on his way to his house at Churihatta when the explosion took place.
He was injured after a part of a wall collapsed on him after the first big explosion.
Residential doctor Alauddin said Kawsar's left hand has been broken and he is under treatment at the orthopedic department.
Another victim, rickshaw puller Md Rabiul also had injuries after a wall collapsed and fell on his chest when he was standing in the area looking for passengers.
His father Md Majid said Rabiul hails from Meherpur and is a father of three daughters. He has been a rickshaw puller at Kamrangirchar in Dhaka since last 15 years.
Rabiul's situation is critical as a number of bones in his chest have been broken and he was kept at the one-stop ICU because of respiratory problems, said doctor Alauddin.
