In Narayanganj, two more children have died in a similar way

Two school students drowned in Dhaka’s Ramna Lake on Sunday afternoon.

Naimuzzaman Chowdhury Adnan, 15, and Abdullah Al Mahfuz, 15, were Class IX students in Willes Little Flower School and College, police said.

Bystanders had rescued and rushed the children to the hospital around 4pm, but the duty doctors declared them dead upon arrival, said Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) police outpost’s Sub-Inspector Md Bachchu Mia.

Their bodies were sent to the morgue for autopsies, he said, adding that the families of the deceased were also informed.

Their friend Arif Hossain, one of the witnesses, said Adnan and Mahfuz drowned while all three of them were taking a bath in the lake, which covers about 8.76 acres inside the Ramna Park.

2 more schoolboys drown in Narayanganj

Meanwhile, two more schoolboys drowned in the Meghna River at Haria Gobindi in Narayanganj’s Sonargaon upazila on Sunday.

The deceased were identified as Yasin, 7, a second-grader at Haria Government Primary School, and Bin Yamin, 7, a first-grader at Moonlight Kindergarten School, reports UNB.

Locals said the duo drowned in the river while taking a bath in the afternoon.
