The Bangladesh Sarak Paribahan Sramik League has demanded an 8 hour maximum limit on work days for bus drivers in order to minimize road accidents.
The demand was among five made by the organization in a press conference at the National Press Club on Tuesday. Md Ensur Ali, general secretary of Bangladesh Sarak Paribahan Sramik League, read out the demands.

According to media reports, bus drivers often have to work full day shifts, increasing the chances of road accidents as they tire.
Furthermore, representatives of Bangladesh Sarak Paribahan Sramik League also blamed transport owners for road accidents. Contracts offered by owners often led drivers to drive recklessly in an effort to fulfill the owner’s demands and make more money, the organization said.
