“From now on, there will be no division based on the name of the district concerned rather new division would come up with a different name,” the prime minister was quoted by Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal.
The planning minister briefed reporters after the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) meeting on Tuesday, UNB reported.
He also hoped the people of Comilla will accept the new name gladly.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, during her visit to Comilla, announced to form a new division in Comilla.
Eleven projects involving an estimated cost of Tk 3,684.50 crore were approved in the meeting, said Kamal.
"Of the total project cost, Tk 2,641.99 crore will come from the national exchequer, while Tk 88.43 crore from the organisation's own fund and the rest of Tk 954.08 crore from project assistance," he added.
