The Nepal embassy in Dhaka has requested Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) to ‘investigate further’ into the death of Binisha Shah, the Nepalese dental student who had reportedly committed suicide at her dormitory room last week.
The request was made on Sunday before Binisha’s brother Narendra Shah escorted her body back home on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight that left Dhaka around 8pm.
Earlier, Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) authorities handed over Binisha’s body to him around 11am.

Dilli Prasad Acharya, second secretary at the Nepalese embassy in Dhaka, said they reached out to DMP after speaking to Narendra who held firm belief that there could be unknown reasons behind his sister’s untimely death.
“That is why we have written to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police requesting further probe,” Acharya said.
Meanwhile, DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) Masudur Rahman said they were giving the foreign student’s death investigation high priority.

DMCH forensic department head Assistant Prof Dr Sohel Mahmud, however, on Saturday said their preliminary findings of the autopsy was pointing towards suicide by hanging as the cause of death.
The report of the preliminary findings was also submitted on Saturday, he said. “The final report will be submitted once we get the results of the other tests.”
Binisha Shah’s body, a third-year student of the 23rd batch of Pioneer Dental College in Dhaka’s Bhatara, was found hanging by her roommate in their dormitory room after she allegedly committed suicide on December 19.
