A fifth grader has died after being run over by a speeding bus of Tetulia Paribahan in Kazipara.
Taslim Alam Trisha, 12, was a student of Mirpur Ideal Girls School and College.
The accident took place around 12.30pm near Lighteye Specialised and Diagnostic Centre on Rokeya Sarani, Kafrul police station OC Sikder Mohammad Shameem said.
Her mother was also injured.
Trisha was crossing the road when the vehicle hit her.
Locals rushed her to Lighteye Specialised and Diagnostic Centre where doctors pronounced her dead.
Her death triggered a mass protest in the area.
Vehicular movement on the busy road came to a grounding halt after angry locals blocked the Agargoan-Mirpur road and set fire to the bus that hit Trisha.
