A Jubo League leader was hacked to death at Sonagazi upazila in Feni over establishing supremacy yesterday.
The deceased, Jasim Uddin, 35, was upazila unit president of Jubo League.
Locals said there had been a long standing dispute between two groups of Jubo League – Jasim group and Lenga Kala group.
Jasim group had been collecting toll from every fisherman in the area and forced them to sell their fish in an illegal fish market at Adarsha village, and the Lenga Kala group was not happy about it, they added.
As a consequence of the dispute, some people of the Lenga Kala group forcibly picked Jasim up around 4:30am and hacked him to death after taking him to the fishery project at Adarsha village, locals said.
Police had arrested six people in this connection. The detainees are Nurul Huda, 50, his son Sumon, 28, Sahed Sharif, 28, Delwar Hossain Babul, 32, Nizam Uddin, 28, and Sohel, 28.
