Parliamentary Standing Committee Chairman on the Shipping Ministry Rafiqul Islam said yesterday that they would recommend legal measures against the contractor of the capital dredging of the Karnaphuli River project for not completing their task as per the treaty.
“The contractor firm, Malaysian Marine and Dredging Corporation, should be black listed as they have not completed the work as per the treaty,” he said while visiting the headway of the project at Sadarghat and Chaktai He also said they would go through the documents to find out whether the Chittagong Port Authorities (CPA) had paid any extra amount to the company, adding that if so, measures would be taken to get back the extra money.
