Detective Branch (DB) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) in a drive arrested a person with 24 Kilograms of hemp from a bus in Chittagong city’s City Gate area on Monday morning.
The arrestee was Abdus Samad, 22, son of Samsul Islam, hailing from Chokoria area of Cox’s Bazar, said police sources.
Babul Akhtar, additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of DB said acting on secret information a team of DB police raided a bus of S Alam Paribahan coming from Dhaka in the area around 6am and seized 24 kilograms of hemp worth Tk 2 lakh after searching the deck of the bus.
Police nabbed the helper of the bus while the driver managed to flee, added the ADC.
