Police have arrested the prime accused in Kaliganj municipality former panel mayor and upazila BNP's former Vice President Ismail Hossain murder case from Dharmatala area in Jessore town on Friday night.
The arrestee, Shahjahan Ali, is the former president of Kaliganj municipal Jubodal and son of Lutfor Rahman of Chapali village under Kaliganj upazila.
Kaliganj police station Officer-in-Charge Anwar Hossain said: “Acting on a tip-off, police arrested Shahjahan conducting a raid in Dharmatala at around 9pm.”
On May 13, BNP leader Ismail Hossain was stabbed to death in front of his house at Chapali village in Kaliganj.
Later, a murder case was filed against Shahjahan Ali in this connection.
