Two activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League and Jubo Dal have been shot dead in Lakshmipur Sadar upazila.
One of the deceased has been identified as Abu Noman, 30, vice president of Chandraganj union Chhatra League and son of Abu Sufian from Lakshmipur Sadar.
The other was Jahangir Hossain, 32, a Jubo Dal activist and son of Md Chowdhury Mia from Sadar.
Lakshmipur Sadar police station Assistant Sub Inspector Mokbul Hossain said they were on patrol duty when he received news of firing around 9pm on Sunday night.
“We rushed to the spot near Siam Petrol Pump and found no one. Only a body was lying there. We took the body to Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital and identified him as Noman.”
Lakshmipur unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League President Sheikh Jamal Ripon said Noman was the vice president of Chandraganj union Chhatra League.
Lakshmipur Sadar Jubo Dal President Md Khaled Mohammad Ali Kiron said Jahangir succumbed to bullet injuries at a private hospital in the night.
